TraceLink MINT Implementation

From fragmented B2B links to one networked way of working with every partner.

Many supply chains still depend on a mix of EDI links, supplier portals and email attachments to move purchase orders, forecasts, shipment notices, invoices and inventory data between partners. TraceLink’s Multienterprise Information Network Tower (MINT) replaces this patchwork with a single, network-based way to exchange transactions in near real time across your partner ecosystem.

Amalia helps you plan and implement MINT in a way that works for your business, partners and systems. Our TraceLink-certified Implementation Project Managers (IPMs) and Technical Consultants (TCs) lead pre-project analysis, partner strategy, solution design, build, testing, cutover, hypercare and handover into operations—acting as the bridge between you, your partners and TraceLink.

Why MINT Implementation Matters

MINT provides an “integrate once, interoperate with everyone” model: you connect once to the TraceLink network and can then digitise business transactions with 100% of your supply chain partners across external manufacturing, logistics, commerce and transportation.

Through its Business Network (B2N) platform and multi-modal integration framework, TraceLink supports EDI (ANSI X12, EDIFACT), SAP IDoc, XML and API-based integration, plus secure file transfer and browser-based UI access for partners without sophisticated systems.

Without MINT Implementation

In the absence of a scalable integration model, organisations face growing complexity across systems, partners, and processes. This leads to reduced visibility, slower execution, and increased operational risk. Common challenges include:

Multiple integrations to manage and maintain

Limited visibility across the supply chain

Inconsistent data and manual processes

Slow partner onboarding and scalability issues

With MINT Implementation

MINT offers a large and growing catalogue of transaction types across key processes such as:

Create a repeatable pattern you can reuse for each new market with minimal process deviations

Minimise disruption to packaging, logistics and commercial operations

Reduce validation and testing effort through standardisation

Give you clear, consolidated visibility of global compliance status

Allow for a systematic approach to identify, manage and implement regulatory and solution updates

What We Do Under TraceLink MINT Implementation

We follow a systematic, repeatable approach that covers the full journey: from pre-project viability analysis and partner selection through to go-live, hypercare and handover to operations. Throughout, our Project Management, Validation and TraceLink Admin resources work as a single team with you, your partners and TraceLink.

Step 1
Pre-project feasibility, partner and transaction mapping

establishing whether MINT is the right tool and where it will deliver the most value:

Map your current business processes and system landscape (ERP, MES, WMS, planning tools and existing integration platforms)

Catalogue current messages and channels (EDI, portals, email, point-to-point APIs) and identify pain points

Map partners across external manufacturing, logistics, direct supply and commerce (CMOs, CPOs, 3PLs, wholesalers, distributors, customers)

Identify which MINT transaction types are relevant—for example:
- Purchase orders, PO acknowledgements, order status reports
- Advance ship notices (ASNs), carrier shipment status, proof-of-delivery
- Invoices, credit and debit adjustments
- Forecast planning schedules
- Inventory and stock reports
- Batch and production-completion messages

Perform a pre-project viability assessment, including expected benefits, complexity, dependencies and indicative business case

Together with you, we also decide which partners and flows should act as pilots and which should follow later waves, balancing risk, benefit and readiness.

Step 2
Implementation strategy and Planning

MINT only delivers its full value when partners are on board, confident and ready:

Segment partners by business criticality, transaction volume and digital maturity

Select suitable pilot partners and pilot flows, based on risk appetite and influence in the network

Review existing partner contracts and quality or supply agreements for integration-related clauses (service levels, data responsibilities, change-control, cutover windows)

Advise on whether contracts need addenda to reflect new digital ways of working

Design a communication and engagement plan that respects existing relationships, avoids surprises and does not derail manufacturing or supply plans

Our Project Managers and TraceLink Admins lead structured workshops and joint sessions with partners to explain the MINT model and business case, agree transaction scope and formats, and define realistic timelines.

Step 3
Detailed solution and integration design

Once feasibility and partner strategy are clear, we design the end-to-end solution:

Map how each chosen transaction should flow between your ERP, planning and warehouse systems, TraceLink MINT and partner systems

Choose the integration modes that make sense per partner and transaction (for example EDI X12 or EDIFACT, SAP IDoc, EPCIS, XML or API-based B2B integration, SFTP, or direct UI use where a partner lacks an ERP)

Define orchestration patterns across relevant MINT modules—such as MINT for External Manufacturing, Logistics, Commerce, Direct Supply, Transportation, and Serialized Shipments and Receipts—aligned with your process needs

Define data models, message content and mapping (for example product, location and partner master data, units of measure, batch and serial data)

Design exception-handling and issue-resolution flows, including how MINT discussions and alerts connect to your incident, deviation and change-control processes

Our TraceLink Admins lead technical and data-mapping design with your IT teams and TraceLink, while our Project Managers keep business, quality and supply-chain stakeholders aligned and moving.

Step 4
Configure and test MINT transactions

We then implement the agreed solution, working closely with TraceLink and partner IT teams:

Configure MINT orchestrations for the selected use cases and messages (purchase order, purchase order acknowledgment, advance shipment notice, forecast, forecast planning, returns, etc)

Build and test integrations to your core systems (for example SAP or other ERPs, WMS, MES, planning tools)

Onboard partners using their preferred integration mode and transaction formats

Run iterative integration testing with traceable scenarios covering standard and edge cases, including negative tests and exception paths

Where required, align testing and documentation with your CSV / CSA expectations and quality system - our validation team can support

Our TraceLink Admins take ownership for the technical configuration and issue resolution; our Project Managers run the detailed project plan, risk and issue log, steering packs and stakeholder communication.

Step 5
Cutover planning and go-live

Before any cutover, we make sure both you and your partners are ready:

Define cutover strategy and go / no-go criteria per transaction set and partner

Sequence cutover waves so critical flows and pilot partners are handled with the right level of support

Align manufacturing and logistics plans with cutover windows to minimise risk of shipment or production disruption

Train internal teams on using MINT dashboards, searches and discussions for day-to-day collaboration

Run go-live rehearsals where appropriate, including rollback options

During go-live, our IPM leads daily stand-ups and issue triage; our TC works directly with your and partner technical teams and TraceLink to resolve problems quickly.

Step 6
Hypercare, optimisation and handover to operations

After go-live, we stay engaged until MINT-enabled processes are stable and embedded:

Provide structured hypercare with agreed service levels, incident and problem-management processes

Fine-tune configurations and mappings based on real-world data and exceptions

Document BAU runbooks, monitoring and escalation paths for operations, IT and supply-chain teams

Hand over to your operations or managed-services model once KPIs show that the solution is stable

Where you plan to expand MINT to additional partners or processes, we help you turn the initial implementation into a template so subsequent waves are faster and less risky.
