TraceLink Update Management

Turn TraceLink’s release cycle into a controlled, documented GxP process.

Regulators expect you to keep GxP systems in a validated, fit-for-purpose state throughout their lifecycle—not only at go-live. For cloud platforms such as TraceLink, that means understanding what each major, minor and monthly patch release might do to your validated processes and data.

TraceLink’s Automated Validation Manager (AVM) helps with core Track & Trace Services (TTS) validation by providing automated tests and documents for standard capabilities. But AVM does not cover MINT and POET solutions, and it cannot know how each change interacts with your specific configurations, integrations and workflows.

Amalia’s TraceLink Update Assessment closes this gap. Each month, our team reviews all relevant TTS, OPUS, MINT and POET releases and patches against how you actually use TraceLink, identifies potential GxP impact, and recommends risk-based testing and mitigation actions.

Why TraceLink Update Assessment Matters

Modern cloud validation guidance (CSV and CSA) makes it clear: you must manage changes throughout the lifecycle, focusing evidence on areas of higher risk to patient safety, product quality and data integrity.

Without TraceLink Update Assessment

Modern cloud validation guidance (CSV/CSA) requires lifecycle-based, risk-focused change management—but without a structured approach, organisations struggle to keep up with TraceLink updates.

Long, technical release notes that are difficult to interpret across apps and regions

Unclear impact of changes on serialisation, integrations and reporting flows

Overreliance on AVM, with gaps for MINT, POET and custom solutions

Limited visibility on what is critical for your specific use cases

Inconsistent or weakly documented impact assessments for audits

With Tracelink Update Assessment

A structured, risk-based approach ensures updates are understood, assessed and managed in line with regulatory expectations.

A well-run TraceLink Update Assessment should instead provide:

Clear interpretation of release notes, focused on your intended use

Defined impact on systems, integrations and business processes

Risk-based assessment aligned with CSV/CSA principles

Coverage of all applications, including MINT, POET and custom solutions

Consistent, audit-ready documentation of decisions and actions

Confident, efficient update management without unnecessary effort

What We Do Under TraceLink Update Assessment

We provide a structured, subscription-based service that combines TraceLink release information with your own configuration, validation state and risk profile.

Onboarding and baseline assessment
Continuous release monitoring
Environment-specific impact assessment
Optional testing and validation documentation sup
Step 1
Onboarding and baseline assessment

We start by understanding how you actually use TraceLink today:

Review your TTS, OPUS, MINT and POET environments and which ones are in scope

Map key GxP-relevant processes and data flows that rely on TraceLink (for example serialisation, partner messaging, digital supply-chain transactions, POET workflows)

Review existing validation documentation, AVM usage (if any), risk assessments and change-control procedures

Agree how we will classify impact (for example: no impact, low configuration impact, medium functional impact, high GxP impact)

This results in a concise baseline profile per environment that we use for all subsequent assessments.

Step 2
Continuous release monitoring

Each month we monitor TraceLink release information for your subscribed environments:

Major roadmap releases

Minor releases and maintenance patches

Relevant documentation updates (for example “What’s new” pages and release summaries)

We focus on changes that could affect: configuration options you use, Interfaces, APIs and message formats, workflows, dashboards or reports used in GxP processes, security, access control and audit trails

Step 3
Environment-specific impact assessment

For each release, we assess the impact against your actual configuration and intended use:

Map new or changed features to your baseline profile

Consider data flows, integrations and partner dependencies (for example with CMOs, 3PLs or MINT partners)

Classify each change using the agreed impact levels

Identify where AVM coverage already provides substantial evidence, and where gaps remain—especially for MINT and POET solutions and bespoke maps.

This analysis is documented in a Monthly Release Risk Assessment per environment.

Step 4
Optional testing and validation documentation support

If you wish, Amalia can go beyond assessment and:

Draft or update risk assessments (FMEA or CSA-based) for affected requirements

Define or refine test cases, focusing evidence where it reduces real risk rather than adding paperwork

Support or execute test runs and capture results

Update validation deliverables (for example traceability matrices, test summaries and validation-reports addenda) using our CSV & CSA templates

This can be purchased as an add-on, either per release or in a block for the subscription period.

Deliverables

Per subscribed environment (TTS, OPUS, MINT or POET) you typically receive:

Onboarding and baseline summary

Documented scope, system inventory, key use cases and risk-focus areas per environment.

Monthly Release Risk Assessment

- A concise report summarising all relevant TraceLink releases and patches for the month;
- Impact classification per change (for example none/low/medium/high GxP impact);
- Recommended actions (testing, documentation, procedural updates or no action).

Actionable test and mitigation guidance

Concrete suggestions on how to implement the recommendations within your change-control and validation processes (for example which scripts to re-run, which workflows to sample, which reports to verify).

Optional add-ons

- Hands-on test execution and evidence capture;
- Creation or update of CSV or CSA documentation sets for major or high-risk changes;
- Workshops or training for QA, IT and business teams on interpreting TraceLink release information and applying CSA principles.

Outcomes you can expect by working with Amalia

A man in a white shirt writing in a notebook while a woman in a black blazer smiles and listens during a meeting in a modern office.
Clear visibility of change impact

You know which TraceLink updates matter for your TTS, OPUS, MINT and POET environments and which do not.

A documented lifecycle validation story

Release-impact and risk assessments that align with modern CSV / CSA thinking and your SOPs.

Confidence around AVM and beyond

You leverage AVM where it helps for TTS, while covering MINT, POET and bespoke workflows that AVM does not address.

Less reactive testing effort

Fewer “test everything” cycles; more targeted testing where risk and impact justify it.

Better inspection readiness

A clear, consistent answer to “how do you manage SaaS updates for TraceLink?” backed by evidence.

When to Consider TraceLink Update Assessment

Five people having a meeting at a table with notebooks and glasses of water near large windows.

Operate TraceLink in a GxP-relevant context (for example serialisation, supply-chain visibility, external manufacturing or quality processes)

Use TTS, OPUS, MINT or POET and want a coherent way to manage releases across them

Already use AVM for TTS but need broader, environment-specific assurance that includes custom workflows and integrations

Are short on internal capacity to read and interpret every TraceLink release note

Want a predictable, fixed-price way to demonstrate lifecycle validation of TraceLink to regulators and customers
